Recognising and understanding common mental health issues is also vital to helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental health in the UK.
Introduction To Mental Health In The Workplace - Level 1 RQF
Our basic 1⁄2 day course is great for those who have an interest in Mental Health and would like to raise their awareness of Mental Health within the workplace and in general. The objective of the qualification is to educate you about the principles of Mental Health and mental illness. You will be introduced to Mental Health conditions such as depression and suicide and build an understanding of stress. You will also be introduced to the use of appropriate language when supporting others and the importance of self-care to potentially improve their own Mental Health.
This course will teach you to:
- Understand Mental Health and its importance
- Know a range of common Mental Health conditions: stress, depressions, signs of suicide
- Understanding the need for self-care and mindfulness
Please be aware that this is an introduction course into mental health and not the full Mental Health First Aid qualification.
Course Content
This course is a quick 1⁄2 day introduction to Mental Health. The objective of the qualification is to benefit the Learner by educating them in the principles of Mental Health and mental illness. Learners will be introduced to Mental Health conditions such as depression and suicide and build an understanding of stress. They will be introduced to the use of appropriate language when supporting others and the importance of self-care to potentially improve their own Mental Health.
1 – Understand Mental Health and its importance
2 – Know a range of common Mental Health Conditions including:
- Signs of stress and helpful methods of managing stress
- Signs and symptoms of depressions
- Suicide
3 – Understanding the need for self-care and mindfulness:
- Why do we need a self-care plan
- The considerations for a self-care plan
- what is mindfulness?
- Testing out own well-being

Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisites to this course. However, the minimum age limit is 16.
Assessment Method
A multi-choice exam is to be completed at the end of the course.
Certificate
This qualification does not expire. However, the awarding body recommends that participants keep up to date with current best practices. We therefore recommend that participants re-take this course every year if they are not engaging in some other form of mental health training.
A personalised e-certificate is sent out to successful learners. Printed certificates are available at an extra cost.
